Good morning everyone! As this is the first post of the new year, I hope you all have had a very happy holiday season! This is my January 2021 update!

This year has already been … tumultuous. I’m in the Scottish Borders, Scotland, and we have been placed in tier 5 lockdown. If you don’t know what the tier levels for the UK lockdowns mean, this means that we’ve been placed under the most strict restrictions on the tier level chart. We are once again stuck at home at least until February 1st, and we’re only allowed to go out for work, grocery shopping, doctor’s appointments, and limited exercise, and these restrictions are enforceable by law.

Punky is starting back up with home learning on Monday morning, which, to be completely honest, I’m not thrilled with, but I completely understand. This time, though, his school lessons will be administered by his regular teacher on the council-provided iPads. There’s less interaction during lessons for me, and this is great because I can get more work done while he’s hopefully learning something!

My husband still hasn’t found work; the Scottish Borders job market is stagnant at the best of times, but now it’s full-on blocked. There’s just nothing available for him here, which totally sucks but is unavoidable.

So, where have I been?

Well, since my last post on December 1st, I’ve been mainly focused on keeping my family happy and healthy. Punky’s school started winter break on December 18th. We have had many nights playing family board games and just enjoying each other. Mr. H, Punky, and I had a very lovely, low key Christmas celebration here at home dressed in our coziest onesies. Although we didn’t have any snow, we had candles lit, the Christmas tree was glowing, and we listened to cheesy Christmas music on youtube. New Year’s Eve was also a fairly low key event. We played Cluedo, ate tacos, and I drank way too much pink bubbly. Mr. H doesn’t drink alcohol, so he and Punky drank sparkling grape juice with a splash of cranberry juice to toast to the new year!

I realize that I promised more Christmas content. Still, I have been overwhelmed with all of the usual holiday chaos, and along with the lockdown and skyrocketing c*vid numbers in our area, and I’m just hunkering down and waiting until it’s over. We are all fine; so far, we’ve been doing a great job isolating ourselves from everyone and haven’t come into contact with anyone who is c*vid positive. I’m sure you don’t want to listen to me ramble on about how boring lockdown is and what games I’ve downloaded from the Google Play shop.

Etsy Shop

I’ve been throwing myself into creating digital content for my Etsy shop.

I haven’t been focusing on uploading shop content here, and for that, I apologize. I’m honestly doing my best right now. So, if you’re interested to see the latest art printables that I’ve made, please head on over to the Etsy shop!  If you’re looking for personalized prints, please let me know. I’m happy to create something special just for you! Here are a few listing photos for you to see, pin, and share!

What’s Next?

I plan on adding more products to the shop here on the blog and market this shop more heavily than on Etsy. While I love using Etsy, my ultimate goal is to be separate from having to host my shop on someone else’s platform and run my entire business from here. I plan on writing more hopefully entertaining blog posts. I’m trying to keep my political thoughts to myself, but it’s been extremely difficult to keep my tongue in check. I’ve been following the daily coronavirus updates, Brexit, calls for another Scottish independence referendum, the US elections, and the latest riots in Washington D.C. It’s a lot, you guys. My brain is overwhelmed and I’m equal parts scared and angry. So please bear with me while I clear my head and get back into the swing of blogging.

That’s it for the January 2021 blog update! I hope you all have a wonderful day today!
